FAQ

Questions? We can help!

If you have any questions about the TTDA, please have a look at our FAQs before contacting us directly. If there's anything else you need to know, we'll keep this FAQ updated. Thanks for your interest in the TTDA.

01. What is the TTDA (The Tangerine Dream Archive)?
The Tangerine Dream Archive is probably the most comprehensive collection of visual material from the band. Monika Froese has been documenting the work of Edgar Froese and Tangerine Dream since the mid-1960s.
The archive contains thousands of photographs, graphics, press articles and original memorabilia, as well as film and video footage. Since Monika Froese’s death in 2000, the archive has consisted entirely of analogue material, which is now being digitized as extensively as possible.
Monika Froese donated all her work to her son, Jerome Froese, during her lifetime. All rights of use have been transferred to him, and the archive also contains many recordings made by Jerome himself and others over the decades.
02. Who is behind this project?

Jerome Froese is in charge of managing and administering the entire project. He will expand into various areas depending on the scope resulting from the future utilization of the TTDA. This will also include cooperation with external companies or people.

03. Is the TTDA related to Tangerine Dream projects after Edgar Froese’s death in 2015?

No, this project absolutely requires contemporary witnesses. In this case, Jerome Froese is the only person still alive who experienced almost all phases of Tangerine Dream, or who obtained experiences and events from direct sources and people.
The current incarnation of Tangerine Dream has more the status of a franchise company that has obtained usage rights to the name, but idealistically no longer has anything in common with the original values of the Froese family or former members of the band.
The TTDA is solely focused on the artistic output of the original Froese family and the band’s history up to the year 2000. It is a standalone initiative that is not affiliated with any subsequent activities following Edgar Froese’s passing in 2015. Consequently, there will be no overlap or mutual support.

04. What has happened to the donation campaign?

We know some of you are wondering what will happen now that the crowdfunding goal has not been reached.

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who has helped with their donations!

The donations will now be used to purchase a pro scanner and cloud space to further advance the digitisation of the archive.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to achieve all of the previously envisaged goals …’ for now’. However, there will be no standstill here and this website will continue to be the basis for this project and will continue to be updated.

05. Can I share this site on social media channels?

Absolutely! This is something we really want to happen. Just remember to respect the copyright and don’t change or manipulate our content and statements. Thank you for your understanding!

06. Can I license images from the TTDA?

Yes, we do offer licensing for images from our archive for use in film, television, online, and press products. This is particularly advisable in order to avoid legal disputes due to copyright infringements.

Please contact us for a license offer via our contact form on this website. Our rates are comparable to those of the major stock photo archives such as Getty Images or Shutterstock, but we also make individual offers.

07. Can I contribute to the TTDA in any way?

We love it when people want to get involved, and this is no exception. Unfortunately, we don’t have any paid jobs to offer at the moment. But if you want to contribute to the project for free in any other way, please get in touch and let us know what you can do. We’d love to hear from you, and who knows, maybe this will lead to an ongoing collaboration.

08. I would like to cover the project for the media or press, how do I get in touch?

We would be grateful to receive any reports on our project, as they would help us to further develop our work. If you are interested in further information or an interview, please use our contact form to get in touch. We’ll then try to get back to you as soon as possible.

09. Will the archive be made available on the Internet for free?

No, that is not planned, as we want to keep control over the content as much as possible.
